Attraversiamo

I want to start this blog by explaining the title I have chosen for it.

ATTRAVERSIAMO

It is an Italian word. I discovered it while reading Eat Pray Love by Elisabeth Gilbert. She describes it in this way.
"Attraversiamo.
It means, "Let's cross over." Friends say it to each other constantly when they're walking down the sidewalk and have decided it's time switch to the other side of the street. Which is to say, this is literally a pedestrian word. Nothing special about it. Still, for some reason, it goes right through me."
Miss Gilbert continues to describe that it is the perfect Italian word to her ear even though it is nothing special to any of her friends, and her perpetual use of it begins to drive them nuts.

I also have found that I have a slight obsession with this word, and not just because of its beautiful sound. No, I am astounded by this word because of its meaning.

First, this term is an action. You are the one crossing the street. Street crossing is not a spectator sport. Secondly, you are beckoning to a friend to join you in your action of crossing the street. Perhaps there is something that you wish to show them, or some shop you've spotted that they must see with you. You are saying. I'm going over there and I want you to join me.

I loved this term over nine months ago when I first read it. Now I love it even more because that is what I am saying to all of you. My family. My friends. My supporters. I am saying, come with me as I cross this street from college student to adult. I wish to share with you what is happening on the new side of the street known as Chicago. I wish for you to come see what LeaderTreks does to transform lives.I wish for you to see how God is transforming my life.

I will be using this blog as a way to share some of the amazing things God is teaching me in the coming months as I grow in his plan for my life.

So I say to you,
Attraversiamo.

Won't you cross with me?
