1 Thessalonians 5:18

"Consider it pure JOY, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perserverance. Let perserverance finish its work so taht you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
James 1:3-4

"I have no greater JOY than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."

Joy Revisited Part One

Last Fall I started my blog with a series called the Joy Challenge. This week I'm revisiting it.
Check out my original Journey in Joy.
Also check out my friend Abby while she is currently taking the Joy Challenge

This week I'm revisiting Joy with the help of YouVersion
(the free Bible App provided by Life Church).
Today's Scriptures Are:

"Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of JOY. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of JOY, carrying sheaves with him."
Psalm 126:5-6

"A happy heart makes the face CHEERFUL, but heartache crushes the spirit."
Proverbs 15:13

"When your words came, I ate them; they were my JOY and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God Almighty."
Jeremiah 15:16

"However, do not REJOICE that the spirits submit to you, but REJOICE that your names are written in heaven."
Luke 10:20

Will you join me in memorizing these verses in the next two day?

In All Started in a Garden

SO LET'S START A GARDEN!!

If you've talked to me since I've moved to Chicago, you've probably heard me say how blessed I feel by the church family that God has brought me here, (and I will sorely miss them while I'm serving God's Kingdom in Dayton.) If you haven't heard anything about Jericho Road click on over

for more Sunday Reflections about how God is using this church body in my life.

And yesterday was another simple day of blessing with the Jericho Road Family.
I slipped on my torn up jeans and an old t-shirt,
Picked up some extra supplies at the office
Caught a quick date with God at my local Starbucks
and headed on over to my pastor's house to join the Garden Prep serve team
And what a BEAUTIFUL day to garden folks!

The month of may at LeaderTreks is a month of preparation:

we're calling youth pastors,

contacting interns,
talking with missionary partners,
organizing, cleaning, planning, studying...
and the list goes on

There are a lot of things that we prep in the office that really help us in June when we are on a site by ourselves being LeaderTreks.

A couple years ago, one of the staff members decided prepping our fitness would be beneficial. Therefore, he started

Jazz Faces

This past weekend a good college friend flew up to visit me.
So we made plans to head downtown and visit a jazz club -

something I've been wanting to do since I moved up here in August.

Reservations were made, we got all dolled up
and hopped on the train from Winfield to Downtown...

I love to listen to jazz, but I think it's even better live
I think this because of the

Dear Seniors,

"Living Out LeaderTreks"  - A series on the core values and leadership principles of LeaderTreks. I'll share how they are lived out in the company and in my own life.  To start from the beginning click here

This time last year I had 2 papers left in my undergraduate career
and totally did not feel like completing them.

The difficult thing about the "end" of college is that even though you walk across the stage at the same time, you don't finish working at the same time. Most of my friends were already celebrating and I was staring down the barrel of a 10 pages of paper writing.

So my fellow sufferers (AnnaCarol & Kendall) and I gathered in my apartment living room to work on our final college papers.

I complained,

procrastinated,

ate Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream,

wrote a sentence
and repeated.

We stayed up till 3 AM writing together.
I enjoyed the company and I love the memory,
but I know that it wasn't the strongest finish I could have given.

Stories of the Young and Old

I love when God builds moment upon moment in what He is trying to tell me for the day.
Every Sunday I'm in Chicago I get up a little bit earlier than necessary and head to Starbucks for a date before church. Sometimes I've got girlfriends with me, but I've always got God and I really value this time.
